David has been a student in the Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) program since September 2016. Entering the fourth year of his DBA, David’s research interests are interpersonal interactions, self-presentation, stigma, and mental illness in the Canadian accounting profession. David has lived experience in the profession with these research concepts and will be drawing upon auto-ethnography to interpret interview data from participating accountants. He seeks to uncover the phenomenology of his research interests from a Goffmanian perspective by applying both Foucauldian history of mental illness and critical discourse analysis focusing upon perceptions of interpersonal interactions, self-presentation, stigma, and mental illness among Chartered Professional Accountants.
David—who is a Chartered Professional Accountant—currently resides in Winnipeg, Manitoba where he operates a small business income taxation planning and preparing firm.
