The authors of this paper have diverse individual research interests and a shared concern regarding predatory conferences and journals, a problem that crosses academic disciplines.

We are Elaine Fabbro, University Librarian; Dr. Cheryl Kier, Associate Professor Psychology; Peggy Lynn MacIsaac, Reference Services Librarian; Dr. Gwen Rempel, Associate Professor and Chair, Centre for Nursing and Health Studies and Graduate Programs; and Dr. Donna Romyn, Associate Professor Nursing. Once we started curating resources for an online tutorial to help others learn to navigate choosing good conferences to disseminate their research, we expanded our scope to include the practices of predatory journals. We then developed an interactive presentation and successfully shared it at the AU Learning Conference for AU staff, tutors, and faculty members in spring 2018.
