Jason Openo

Jason Openo enrolled in the Doctorate of Education in Distance Education program in May 2015, and he chose AU’s program because of his multiple roles as the Director of Teaching and Learning at Medicine Hat College, and as a sessional faculty member in the University of Alberta’s online Graduate School of Library and Information Studies, where he teaches leadership and management principles. He is the co-author of Assessment Strategies for Online Learning: Engagement and Authenticity, published in 2018 by Athabasca University Press. His other work has been published in the Canadian Journal for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, the Journal of Education in Library and Information Science, and the Journal for Research and Practice in College Teaching. His research interests include post-heroic leadership models, professional development for online contingent faculty, and assessment of student learning outcomes in online learning environments.
