Viviane Vladimirschi possess an EdD in Distance Education from Athabasca University. She is from and lives in São Paulo, Brazil. Since 2002, Viviane is director of E-Connection, a company that renders distance education, open education, and instructional consulting, training and design services. She is a passionate open education advocate and her most recent research is focused on teacher professional development for OER (Open Educational Resources) use. Her other research interests include mobile learning and designing online learning environments for cross-cultural students. She is author of the chapter: An exploratory study of cross-cultural engagement in the Community of Inquiry: instructor perspectives and challenges (VLADIMIRSCHI, V., 2012) in AKYOL, Z. & GARRISON, D.R. She is also an active member of the Global OER Graduate Network and of the ICDE. She has been funded twice by the Global OER Graduate Network to present her research in two international Open Educational Global Conferences (Krakow- Poland, April 2016; Delft- The Netherlands, April 2018). She was also grantee of the MIT Brazil Lemann Seed Fund for Collaborative Projects – August, 2016 to August, 2017. This collaborative project between ITS Rio (Institute for Technology and Society of Rio de Janeiro) and the MIT Media Lab was aimed at creating effective teaching and learning strategies and tools to promote new ways of interaction and engagement in online learning communities.
